With all the freaking out over Tae's ongoing shirtlessness, I was thinking back today on all the little moments we enjoyed together and the times we collectively lost our minds. It's such a fun part of the fandom, to share these moments with each other and know that someone was feeling the same things you were feeling in that moment. Especially in our little corner of the internet. Here are just a couple of my faves:

  • Hearing Joon, Yoongi, and Hobi do Cypher Pt 3 and having a whole stadium screaming out "fuck you, I don't care, you can't control my shit" while government officials sat in the stands at YTC. I get shivers just thinking about it. It really was like therapy, I think.

  • JK's Instagram Q&A era. That was so wild and so fun, and I'm sad we won't get more of it, but I have some fantastic sound bites that I use as notifications to remind me of them. Plus, I have a snippet of JK singing Happy Birthday to someone that I send to my bff on her birthday. And we get hours long WeLives now to take it's place. Here are the threads we had in the sub at the time.

We're so lucky that most all of our memorable moments are available to watch again and again, and for new ARMY to get to experience them, too. What are some of your favorite "had to be there" moments that you experienced real time with other ARMY?

(And to our baby baby ARMY, you absolutely will have "had to be there" moments, if you haven't already, trust me. Our boys never disappoint. 😂)

  1. When Dynamite hit #1, you had to be there.

It was in the middle of the pandemic, (I was wfh back then), I remember refreshing Billboard all the time, hoping they could finally release the Top 10 and lo and behold, they did it.

You just had to be there, everyone was crying, screaming, shouting, Weverse was going crazy with all the guys’ notifications, absolute joy.

  2. when hobi dropped jitb and subsequently, hobipalooza (full thing is [on youtube](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ak5yOmj8W8) in case anyone needs it), there’s a running joke on armytwt that nobody was calling him hobi when jitb dropped, it was solely hoseok (..among other names.. #sexyclownman)

  3. BTS’ very first televised American performance when they performed on [The American Music Awards](https://youtu.be/rH1PVvFj8cE?si=Axnp2jVf2w0Vabeg) in 2017.

Before then, almost no one knew who BTS was when I talked about them. Seeing them on western television was surreal. And then slowly the conversation shifted from “BTS who?” to “Oh BTS, yes I’ve heard of them”.

  4. WINGS era short films/teasers. Remember actively searching on Twitter for fan responses (before I made a K-pop account) and reading up a ton of theories on Tumblr. Like…the anticipation for the next one to drop and seeing the circles slowly revealing the album art was unreal. Learning what the “Boy Meets ____” teaser from the Save Me MV meant was nice too. Before the lore started to feel too convoluted as well.

I have a lot, like a lot of their first wins (daesangs, music shows, billboard)? But if I am going to pick one, then the night before the BBMA’s 2017 awards, when they left Korea. Everyone (yes, even non-armys) was anticipating, all nervous, like sending your kids to a competition, out into the world. We knew we were witnessing history, it was nerve wracking. And then they won.

For releases: group would be Wings. The short film promo for solo songs was never done before. And then the charting in BB200.

Individual would be Daechwita. If apple music didn’t fkc up and released that picture, it would be a total surprise drop. The fanarts that came out because of this was astounding.
